Update on sleep and show

Monday, April 30th, 2007

First off–sorry if you were listening live on Friday.  The engineers graduated from college so we taped the show and they got it on the air at the wrong time–I guess they can graduate, but can’t tell time.

Then, sleep update!  We actually have been doing the sleep training for over a week and can I say that Anna is sleeping through the night and sleeping more in the day!!!!  Yes, Hallelujah!  I am a new woman!  5 days of sleep!

It wasn’t easy starting out.  Anna, of course, cried a lot off an on the first night.  I toughed it out by myself because Arthur is a softie.  Then, the second night, she did fine.  Then, the third night, I let Arthur in on the deal and he got soft and went in to see her early on saying, “It’s early, it won’t make a difference.”  But, it did.  She thought we were back to the old way and woke up several times during the night.

So, I banned Arthur again and got Anna back on schedule.  We are doing GREAT!  I can conqueror the world!  Anna is 10 months and I am so glad we are both finally sleeping!

Funny thing is that I did this with my son ALL BY MYSELF.  I read the books and was strong enough to get him to sleep through the night at 4 months.  It took one night.  But with Anna, I could not do it because she was a preemie and so small (still is small).  But, with the blessing of my Pediatrician and help from Jami Kent, I had to do it to survive!   Learn more about Jami at bbsleepsolutions.com .  She really helped me through the tough times!  Thanks Jami!

Send in Aha! Moments you have as a mother and we’ll put you in the drawing.  You can enter as many times as you want.  We’ll have a great prize.   Send them to info@babiesandmomsradio.com!

Baby Travel Safety

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

Kay Green owner of www.mypreciouskid.com provides a great resource to any parent wanting to know more about child safety.  But that is not all!  The site is packed full of articles and resources to help us mothers learn about baby sleep, potty training, first aid, and much more. Kay visited our show to teach us a little about Baby Travel and Vacation Safety.  Whether it’s to Disneyland or Grandma’s house, we all go on vacation. But how do we keep our children safe in an environment unknown even to us? Kay says you must PLAN AHEAD not just the day before.  Familiarize yourself with the environment as much as you can prior to leaving.  (more…)
