Our business requires a lot of travel and Henry’s still nursing, so… Instead of counting flights, we count states–Henry’s been to 10, some of them twice, and he’s 18 months old. Most of those flights I’ve managed by myself with him. I have one of those really expensive three-in-one stroller/carseat deals and I have to say it’s been worth every penny. (I’ve also loaned it out a few times.) It’s gotten dinged up, but it’s still solid as a rock. I travel with that, an Ergo carrier, a small purse and a diaperbag. One book, one change of clothes, 3 diapers, wipes, snacks, a nursing drape, a sippy cup and his toy laptop — that seems to hold us. We play with magazines and talk to people and — thank heavens — he sleeps pretty well on planes.
When I’m too encumbered I find I get short-tempered and stressed out, which isn’t good for either of us. I’m the kind of person who’d rather buy something in the airport than have to carry it around, but YMMV.
